This collection is based off of a study of different methods of metalwork in jewelry, art, architecture, and construction. The inspiration of metal used as a medium is connected to the golden thread, often seen woven through textiles of South Asia. The color gold has many meanings behind it including success, wealth, and celebration. The colors of metal are seen as a good luck charm and an important piece of aesthetic value in Indian culture. The textiles and designs emulate details of metalwork with embroidery and colors.

For the textile exploration I used techniques of batik dyeing, natural dyeing, ink painting, embroidery, 3D shibori, and pleating. The fabric manipulations are inspired by the colors and finishes of the researched metalworks.
