A place of dream is a project where I explore the act of storytelling through textile as a medium. Based on a poem I wrote during a creative writing session, this collection describes the mood of a imagined garden of future nostalgia, based upon the feeling of future nostalgia for a place that does not exist yet. This poem was inspired by my view of relationships between the natural world and human, which I explore with different crafts inspired by European quilting, Japanese ink painting and fabric dyeing, and motifs of flowers and shapely motifs that are found in my own South Asian heritage. The fabric manipulations have a have a sense of symmetry contrasting the organic shapes, which manifest into garment designs that are a combination of the natural and man made.
